In De Fabriek zullen drie kunstenaars met een oorsprong in de graffiti-cultuur samenkomen en hun individuele ontwikkeling tonen als intrigerende en volwassen makers. De opening is onderdeel van UCMASTERS – An evening of Urban Culture. Dit is een avondvullend programma met een tentoonstelling, optredens, live muziek en film!
Baroem (1997) is een ondernemende fotograaf die de rauwe randjes van de analoge fotografie opzoekt. Zijn onderwerpen vindt hij in underground culturen, maar hij heeft ook een fotoserie gemaakt tijdens zijn reis naar Oekraïne, waarin hij de invloed van misinformatie tijdens het begin van de invasie vastlegde.
Antigoon (1983) creëert machines die patronen aanbrengen met markers, spuitbussen en andere materialen. Het resultaat is onmenselijk perfect en geometrisch, maar met tekenen van materialen die voor mensen zijn gemaakt, zoals druipende verf, geperste krijtjes en potloodstrepen.
Ralph Roelse (1984) laat zich inspireren door de ruwe schoonheid van industriële landschappen en vertaalt zijn ervaringen naar een hybride vorm van schilderkunst en fotografie. Zo ontstaan er kunstwerken waarin hij de brutale energie van vandalisme weet te integreren met de subtiele emoties van schilderkunst.
Step in the Arena Extra
Om 20:30 is er in de kelder van De Fabriek een speciaal programma van Dynamo/Step in the Arena. Het programma bestaat uit een panel talk met de Afghaanse kunstenaars Malina Suliman en Wali Askarzai over politiek activisme, veiligheid en de Graffiti scene binnen Afghanistan. Meer info hier.

At De Fabriek, three artists with roots in graffiti culture will come together to showcase their individual development as intriguing and mature creators. The opening is part of UCMASTERS – An evening of Urban Culture. This is an evening-long program featuring an exhibition, performances, live music, and film!
Baroem (1997) is an enterprising photographer who seeks out the raw edges of analog photography. He finds his subjects in underground cultures, but he also created a photo series during his trip to Ukraine, capturing the influence of misinformation during the invasion’s outset.
Antigoon (1983) creates machines that apply patterns with markers, spray cans, and other materials. The result is inhumanly perfect and geometric, but with traces of materials made for humans, such as dripping paint, pressed crayons, and pencil marks.
Ralph Roelse (1984) draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of industrial landscapes and translates his experiences into a hybrid form of painting and photography. This results in artworks in which he is able to integrate the bold energy of vandalism with the subtle emotions of painting.
Step in the Arena Extra
At 20:30 there will be a special program by Dynamo/Step in the Arena in the basement of De Fabriek. The program consists of a panel talk with the Afghan artists Malina Suliman and Wali Askarzai about political activism, security and the graffiti scene in Afghanistan. More info here.
