Shut Up & Trick 2018

Shut Up & Trick is the second biggest Tricking Gathering in the Netherlands and will take place during EMOVES. This gathering focuses on promoting Martial Arts Tricking in the Urban scene. With Battles, workshops and open seminars which only the greatest of them all attend. Are you ready for the most amazing discipline out there?

Martial arts tricking, known simply as tricking, is a training discipline that combines the kicks of martial arts with flips and twists from gymnastics as well as many dance moves and styles from breakdancing and capoeira. It aims to achieve an aesthetic display of different combinations of “tricks”. Tricking practitioners are commonly referred to as trickers or tricksters, and can come from various backgrounds.

This year we’ll have 2 VS 2 battles instead of the 1 VS 1 battles. We have chosen to do this to connect people with each other for the sake of the mindset of SUAT. Training and meeting other trickers what you maybe normally wouldn’t do. So you might be wondering how it’ll work!?

If you want to be in the top 16 for the saturday evening you’ll have to participate with the preliminaries on the friday evening. You will do a 1 VS 1 battle (2 passes each) and the judges will give you a rating on that battle. You won’t get to see any of those ratings untill every battle is done. After all the battles are finished you’ll see a ranking list on the Facebook and Instagram.

On the same night we will give you a list (also on FB/Instagram) of the teams that will be picked automatically. So you won’t know who you are battling with! You’ll have enough time to train with your partner because there will be rules for these battles. So what are the rules?

The team with the best out of 7 passes will win and you can pick these things to do for in the battle:

  • A one person combo (minimal of 1) OBLIGATED
  • A synchro combo (minimal of 1) OBLIGATED
  • High five in a synchro combo
  • Begin and end your combo with a kick
  • Flip over you partner
  • Take off from your partner
  • 7 hit combo without hook kicks and not a swing chain
  • Take off clothing mid combo

There will be a total prize money of €800,- for the top 3:

  • 3RD place: €100,-
  • 2ND place: €200,-
  • 1ST place: €500,-
